WOMEN'S 1'S:

Women's 1's battled a 3:0 loss to Middleton's 1's last weekend. The 1st game back after 6 weeks and no pitch time to train due to snow and ice saw Crowborough dust off the cobwebs. Despite superb pressure and structure in the 1st half the 1's conceded and where trailing 1:0. Youngsters Grace M, Alice W and Hannah W stepped u and challenged an experienced opposition. Despite creating multiple opportunities the 1's were unable to bridge the gap and the game ended in a 3:0 defeat.

WOMEN'S 2'S:

Ladies 2's travelled to Horsham to take on their Ladies 5's on Saturday. After the long break we were all happy to be back playing the game we love. The Crows started a little rusty, but soon settled and found their way. Becky I and Sophia D displayed some fantastic hockey from start to finish, along with forwards Meg S and Jess J making some superb runs and strikes at goal, unfortunately Horshams goalie was quick to stop any attacks. Midfielder Eve T also played some cracking hockey, showing real determination throughout. Josie M and Lucy K managed to secure the 1st goal after some serious battling but sadly any other attempts were soon cleared by the opposition. Unfortunately the game didn’t go the way the Crows had hoped, leaving the final score 4:1 to Horsham. Player of the match went to goalie Tilly Singleton, who made some fantastic saves and showed some first class goal keeping.

WOMEN'S 3'S:

Women's 3’s play the Women's 4’s this week and they had 4 girls development joining the team for some adult hockey.  A little rusty and unfit from the Christmas break and with several players in new positions it took the team some time to come together against the speed and youth of the women's 4’s. Bethy C stayed strong in defense with Charlotte R making some outstanding saves and Amelia T defended well in her first time as wingback.  Some excellent through balls from the backline gave Anoushka W who was voted Player of the match some excellent individual runs on goal but was not able to convert. Jess I also made several breaks up the wing but the 4’s were too strong and the score finished in a 3:0 defeat.

MEN'S 2'S:

After a long winter break Crowborough Men’s 2's returned to the spiritual home of Crowborough hockey. A tough game by all was anticipated against a promotion seeking Horsham and from the off, both teams played with structure and composure.  A very well taken penalty flick dispatched by the opposition saw them take the lead then following a number of chances created by the home side a driven ball in by the captain saw a goal from James L to level the scores. The 2nd half saw the home side grow in to the game with belief and composure and well taken chances. Ian E gave Crowborough the lead early in the 2nd half, the 3rd d came via the Pulman Newington Pulman short corner routine and the final goal was another from James L following a fine run. It was a great team performance with everyone playing for each other and a brilliant way to start the New Year with the spirit that makes this club what it is.

MEN'S 3'S:

Crowborough Men’s 3’s had an early start as they travelled to Littlehampton to play Middleton 2’s for a 10:30 pushback. The 3’s 1st game since the Christmas break saw a rusty start, conceding within seconds of the start of the game. 2 more goals quickly followed leaving the 3’s a little stunned and 3:0 down. Then the true spirit of the 3’s side started to show as they found some composure, stopping the flow of goals and regaining their shape. The 2nd half was end to end, with both teams creating chances but with the 3's lacking a recognised striker they just couldn’t find the target. Player of the Match went to Jude F for his endless energy, smart passing and control of the midfield.
