WOMEN'S 1'S:

This week the Women's 1's held title contenders South Saxons 1's to a 0:0 draw. Crowborough proved that bravery in stepping up to players in defence and midfield and putting the opposition under pressure works and meant the team started to realise their potential. Crowborough controlled the midfield the entire game, creating opportunities that they were unlucky to not convert. The energy in the team was excellent for the full 70 minutes and the effective communication throughout the whole team meant that they scuppered all attacks. An absolute team performance but for an outstanding personal performance Player of the match went to Millie R-G!

WOMEN'S 2'S:

The Women's 2's played Eastbourne 3s at home and for a change, the sun was nearly out! The Crows won the pushback and the game quickly began, with forwards Michelle H, Josie M and Jess J making fast and fierce attacks against the oppositions goalie, however the goalie was quick to react at any shot and the ball was played back out. Midfielders Emma C, Lucy K and Vicky D stopped any ball reaching the half way line and the ball was quickly back in the D for the forwards to get their well deserved goal, which they did thanks to the skilled and speedy Jess J. She scored a fantastic goal meaning the Crows were going into half time 1:0 up. The 2nd half was definitely tough and the game certainly got physical but the Crows kept their cool. Jess I came on as a forward and made serval runs down the right into the D, narrowly missing the goal. However after some intense play, the Crows were awarded a short corner. Michelle H injected the ball to Jess J, who struck the ball from the top of the D, straight into the goal. It was one of best short corners the Crows have played this season, a first class strike with some serious power! Eastbourne battled back and managed to get a goal past goalie Tilly S, who had made a series of fantastic saves through the game. The final score was 2:1 to the Crows, a well deserved win for the ladies. Player of the match went to newcomer Caroline C, who played an incredible game from start to finish.

WOMEN'S 3'S:

Women's 3’s played away in the beautiful sunshine against a strong Crawley side on Saturday. Crowborough started with a few nerves and soon Crawley we’re taking shots on goal but the defence held strong with Goalie Jane F (Player of the match) making some great saves. Soon Crowborough found there feet and were making determined runs through midfield. Crawley continue there attacking runs and after a short corner finally broke the defence to score. In the 2nd half Lizzie P and Bethany B were linking beautifully down the wing and Meg S (Player of the match) made some excellent shots into the D but unfortunately the goalie was too good. Jane continued to make outstanding saves including a penalty flick but Crawley found 2 excellent goals in quick succession meaning the game ended in a 3:0 defeat against top of the table.

MEN'S 1'S:

Mens 1s travelled down to play a well drilled Worthing 3's team. Crowborough travelled with low numbers causing players to play out of position. With this and Worthing's aggressive play, Crowborough started the game on the back foot. Early into the game, Worthing were able to win short corners allowing a skilled Worthing drag flicker to get 2 early goals followed by a third deflection across goal. Sam C was able to get a goal back with his pace and accuracy, he was able to score in the back corner ending the 1st half down 3:1. Going into the 2nd half, Worthing didn't hold up and continued to put shots on goal with a deflection scored meaning Crowborough where ow trailing 4:1. The Crows were able to get back into the game finding 2 more goals from Hamish M and Freddie L however this wasn't enough as Worthing scored their final goal finishing the game in a 5:3 defeat.

MEN'S 2'S:

Travelling to Mid Sussex on the back of a fantastic result last week, Crowborough knew their game against a team a few points lower was going to be tough. However, when Ian E scored the 1st inside 10 minutes it looked as if the visitors were going to have an easy outing. This wasn’t to be though as Crowborough were missing vital players and Mid Sussex came back in to the game strongly and by half time the Crows where trailing 2:1. Crowborough needed to start the 2nd half well, with some quick passing from the back and a run from Ian E he found Harry M on the penalty spot to level the scores. They then went ahead from another Ian E goal but with a minute left on the clock Mid Sussex levelled at meaning the game ended in a 3:3 draw which on reflection was a fair result.

MEN'S 3'S:

Crowborough 3’s hosted 2nd in the league Crawley 3’s on Saturday for a late game using our newly fixed floodlights. With the absence of goalkeeper Nick S, captain Stuart S stepped up to the role like the great leader he is and played in goal. Crawley 3’s put out an impressive, well drilled side which proved just too much for the Crows with Crawley winning the match 13:0. Crowborough 3’s can still be proud of a disciplined performance regardless of the score, they still created some great chances with a young side and show some great potential.
