Mens Ones
Mens Ones played away against Mid Sussex at 13:00pm. A depleted mens ones lost 2-1 at Mid Sussex. Crowborough scored in the first 2 minutes to set the tone but leaked 2 goals late in the first half to relinquish the lead. Both teams had chances in the second half but the score stayed at 2-1 thanks to a few key saves from Mikey Orchard and some good defending from the back line. Great effort from all 11 available and a special mention to Joel Street and Rory Pamphilon for stepping up after the three’s game was cancelled. Both played very well and held their own at a higher level than they are used to. Goal scorer was Oscar Wakelin and player of the match goes to Mikey Orchard.
Mens Twos
Mens Twos played at home against Eastbourne at 13:00pm. Despite the disruption of the opposition turning up late, the men won 3-1 through an excellent display of pace, attacking play and defensive skill. Player of the match went to Sam Chick.
Ladies Ones
Ladies Ones played away against Horsham at 11:30am. The game was competitive from the start with Crowborough taking a little time to settle. Sandra and the defence were relentless in countering the Horsham attack. The youngsters had fantastic performances using the width of the pitch and connecting with some great passes from midfield cutting through the Horsham defence. They were unlucky not to convert the chances. The ladies had two debutants today, Alice Webb and Claire Bennet. Both had great games and slotted in nicely. The ladies lost 3-1 with player of the match going to both Rose James and Sandra Stepple.
Ladies Twos
Ladies Twos played a friendly at home against Lewes at 11:30am. Lewes very kindly accepted the offer to come and play against the twos when Eastbourne pulled out of the league this week. Crowborough assisted the opposition with fielding their team and Keren Loder and Bethy Catling both stepped in to be amazing goalies for the sides. Despite the opposition usually playing in the league above, the twos put up a good front against them, the defending excellent and demonstrating some magnificent break-away play. Naomi Tear scored both goals, one from a short corner and the other from an impressive run into the D. Despite that, Lewes got three goals past our defence, Crowborough losing 3-2 with player of the match going to Claire North.
Ladies Threes
Ladies Threes played at home against Lewes at 10:00am. The ladies expected a physical game and that is what they got! Both sides continuously battled throughout the game, not letting up at all. Crowborough showed some impressive attacking play, unlucky not to find the goal. Despite Lewes scoring a well earned goal mid-way through the second half, the ladies fought even harder, gaining numerous shots on goal and defending in a professional manner. Unfortunately the ladies lost 1-0 with player of the match going to Lara Swan and Lucy Gibson. A special well done to Amy who made her debut in the team and played with great purpose.
Boys Development
Boys Development played at home against Mid Sussex at 14:30pm. The boy's first game in a few weeks, they played with great teamwork and communication. Coach Justin Singleton provided this match report, "Defensive play much better this week with great marking and good team work. Bear 11 players all worked really well throughout". The boys lost 5-0 despite this and are determined to come back stronger next week.
