MEN'S 1'S:

Crowborough Men's 1's caught Worthing 3's off guard and started with a fast-paced and well-drilled game plan which led to an early goal in the 1st few minutes for the Crows. This early lead continued for the 1st 20 minutes of the game with Dan C scoring an "Ollie" from a save off the keeper and a follow-up goal from James P with a drag flick from a short corner. Worthing came back from this and started putting pressure on Crowborough with a goal back at the end of the 1st half with a deflection around the keeper. Going into the 2nd half Worthing continued to push hard leaving Crowborough to crack under the pressure a few times with missed passes and a divided midfield. The Men's 1's were able to hold on for most of the 2ns half however Worthing were able to get a 2nd goal with the ball being hit into the D and being deflected between both teams, finding its way into the goal. With the score coming to 3:2 to Crowborough, both teams were out for the win. Crowborough missed a penalty flick which could have helped give certainty of the win and Worthing were unable put away any of their short corners which prevented them from taking away a point. The game came to an end with the Crows holding on and walking away with all 3 points.

MEN'S 2'S:

Men's 2's hosted a strong and experienced Mid Sussex side on Saturday, however Crowborough were the team to settle into the game very quickly with the experience of Phil N and his partners in defense Harry H-M and Player of the match Alex P soaking up the early pressure. Once settled the youthful midfield of Darren P, Ethan B, Olly S, Jethro H and Harry M began passing the ball with confidence and skill to one another. As the Crows began to work their way up the pitch the confidence continued and turned into a great opportunity, after a lovely run down the right side of the pitch a lovely ball was pushed into the D were it found Darren P who slotted home Borough's 1st goal. The 2nd goal came shortly afterwards with great work between Olly S and Harry M to give Crowborough a 2:0 lead going into half time. Mid Sussex started the 2nd half strongly and if it wasn't for amazing goalkeeping from Rufus J they would have found their way back into the game. Once their opportunities were denied the Men's 2's again began to dominate by gaining momentum with the speed and skills of Sam A, debutant Nate P and Harvey H creating the opportunity for Crowborough on another short corner where Phil N played a cross shot that was deftly guided home by Darren P to give the hosts a final 3:0 victory.

MEN'S 3'S:

Crowborough Men's 3's hosted Eastbourne 4's on Saturday at Beacon school. Eastbourne caught the Crows off guard with an early goal putting the home side on the back foot from the get go. With perseverance, communication and hard work the 3's started to play their way back into the game but found themselves 2:0 down at half time. The 2nd half started much better with Stuart Smith managing to get a goal back for the Crows by lifting the ball over the oppositions diving keeper. The 3's gave their all but just ran out of legs, conceding 2 more goals in the last 10 minutes. Despite the score Crowborough played with heart, respect and encouragement to the young and new players to the team. The team voted Eddie D Player of the match as a just 14 years old he held his own and really started to frustrate the visitors with his skill towards the end of the game. The final score ended as a 6:1 loss.

BOY'S DEVELOPMENT:

A much improved performance saw the Boy's match the more experienced Crawley throughout the game. The opposition opened the scoring mid way through the 1st half with Crowborough responding less than 10 minutes later with a smart ball from Eddie was picked up by Hayden who sed into the oppositions D, expertly passed round the keeper for Will to coolly slot home the equalizer. The Boy's continued to play intelligent hockey throughout the match, making good use of wide areas and looking for early passes. Defensively they excelled. Superb communication between Henry, Max and Joe enabled them to cope with the opposition's mobile forwards. Although Crawley's experience paying off in the end the Boy's should be proud of their strong performance.
