Despite clawing back a goal midway through the 2nd half which was tomahawked by Kate B towards goal and deflected in by Clare B the game finished in a 3:1 defeat. Player of the match way shared between goal scorer Clare B and skillful Hannah W.

WOMEN'S 2'S:

Crowborough Women's 2's travelled to Hastings to play South Saxons on Saturday, the opposition generally dominated the game by having the most possession and attacks on goal. However Crowborough's centre backs where quick to clear the ball and pass it out wide to the wingbacks to start to work up the pitch. Despite Crowborough's best efforts the opposition found their way around the defense and managed to get 3 goals past them before the end of the 1st half. The Crows knew going into the 2nd half that they had to up their game to get any points out of the match, so Meg S and Jess I led by example and used every opportunity to drive the ball up the pitch which enabled captain Josie M to score Crowborough's 1st goal of the game. Not long after the Ladies had another opportunity created by some fantastic play from Vicky D who pushed the ball into the D and Jenny B managed to get a touch to slot it home, upping the score to 3:2. Unfortunately South Saxons weren't going to stop there and they soon got 2 more goals which meant the final score was a 5:2 loss for Crowborough Women's 2's. It was definitely not what the Crows wanted but they battled throughout and played some fantastic hockey. Player of the match went to Eve T for her sheer determination and her skilled play throughout the game.

WOMEN'S 4'S:

Crowborough Women's 4's lost 4:2 on Saturday against Lewes Legends, the game was described by Fiona V-H to have gone either way but the team where just unlucky.

MEN'S 1'S:

Crowborough Men's 1s came up against top of the league (Worthing 2's) for their toughest game yet this season on Saturday. Going into this game Worthing where top of the league had been undefeated with no draws so far this season and Crowborough where in at a close 3rd but came prepared for an intense game. From push back both teams were looking to get early goals and to control the game. Worthing soon found Crowborough's defence unbreakable and the Crows held their positions not allowing anything near their goal. With their high push, Harry H was able to aerial over their forwards finding the likes of Freddie K, Jake F, and Tom J in midfield allowing them to move the ball through Worthings defence and allowing shots on goal. With no luck getting any shot past Worthings agile goalie, Crowborough kept attempting moving the ball around the goalie and eventually Freddie K got a rebound to put Crowborough ahead at the start of the 1st half. Worthing didn't drop their heads and kept on doing their best which lead to a couple of attempts on goal and a short corner which was calmly cleared by Mikey O in goal who played superbly earning his 2nd Player of the match in a row. Going into the 2nd half, there was still everything to play for and neither team let off creating some heated play and intense tackles. After the 1st few minutes Crowborough were able to back Worthing into their own half with Jake S cutting off passes and James P picking aerials, Crowborough won more short corners and continued their barrage shots. Eventually Crowborough were able to get a second goal with Finn A finding Josh H across goal for a beautiful finishing shot giving Crowborough their 2nd goal of the game. With the final 10 minutes to go in the game, Worthing were able to win a short corner with was well worked between the defense and around the goalie to put them back into the game. For the final minutes of the game, Crowborough continued to play their hockey and Worthing weren't able to get anymore chances ending the game Crowborough in a 2:1 victory against top of the league.

MEN'S 3'S:

Crowborough’s Men's 3’s travelled to Lewes to take on their 6’s side for a 10:15 push back.

With the Crows short of a few defenders, Harry M and Nate P stepped down from the 2’s this week to fill the gaps. Crowborough started fast, with some real slick passing between Captain Stuart S, Nate P and Jude F, often finding striker James L in the box. Creating a barrage of chances James Lee was unlucky to find so many attempts blocked by a well organised Lewes side. Lewes then started to move forward and found easy pickings through our depleted defense, seeing goals in the 1st half. James L managed to get us on the score sheet before the break but a lot of work was needed in the 2nd half.

With James L looking most likely to score, he became our target man. With 20 or so minutes to go, keeper Nick S had to come off with a knee injury. Harry M stepped up and put on the Kit and threw himself into action saving a number of Lewes’ chances including a goal bound shot off his stick. The final score ended in a 4:3 defeat to Lewes, as the Crows just ran out of time with a determined come back. Player of the match went to Ben P for playing a role in midfield which credits no glory but was instrumental to the Men’s 3’s getting back into the game.

BOY'S DEVELOPMENT:

On the back of their strongest performance of the season the Boy's came up against a strong Mid Sussex side. Great defending through the 1st half kept the game competitive. The 2nd half saw an even better performance from the Development team with some slick passing moves which created some openings for the team. Fina score was a 5:0 defeat.
