Mens Ones
Mens Ones played at home against Horsham. The men's run of wins finally came to an end with a 2-1 loss to 3rd place Horsham. Crowborough started poorly allowing the visitors two quick goals early in the first half. They responded late in the first half with a well taken goal by Hamish Marr turning at the top of the circle and hammering the ball low to the keepers left. The second half saw Crowborough press high up the pitch creating chances but unfortunately they just couldn’t convert. They still remain at the top of their league, just two points ahead of Mid Sussex.
Ladies Ones
Ladies Ones played at home against Brighton and Hove. As always, it was a physical and competitive game with the bad weather battering both teams from all directions. Great teamwork was implemented, everyone working together to convert tackles to passes and passes to goals. The game ended in a 4-3 victory which allows Crowborough to maintain the 7th spot in their league.
Mens Twos
Mens Twos played away against Horsham. The men were looking to build on their win last week. Playing in atrocious weather conditions, the first half was very even, with Borough creating the better opportunities, but not able to capitalise. The second half became more scrappy and this benefitted the home team. Horsham took the lead with a well worked goal. This gave them more confidence and they went on to score two more goals without reply. Final score was 3-0. Player of the match was Lyle French for a strong performance with multiple top drawer tackles.
Ladies Twos
Ladies Twos played at home against Southwick. The ladies started the second half of the season with a great 6-2 win over a strong Southwick side. The twos went ahead within the the first few minutes with a well worked team goal however Southwick came back with an equaliser within a few minutes. The Crows rallied and went ahead again, only for Southwick to shortly get another equaliser. The score was 2-2 at the break. The Crows refocused after half time and with several well worked team goals and a stunning solo effort by Sophie, the final score was 6-2. There was some good performances thought-out the team but player of the match went to Sophie Holcombe who had an outstanding game.
Mens Threes
Mens Threes played away against Brighton and Hove. The first game back for 2023 was against one of the top of the league sides but despite this, the score remained 0-0 at half time. In the second half, despite outstanding play from the youth academy youngsters, the team had a slippery fifteen minutes which put them 3-0 down. Crowborough kept fighting on, and Graham C skilfully scored from a short corner. Sadly, Brighton scored again in the dying minutes of the match, so the final result was a 4-1 defeat. Player of the match was Ollie Hewitt due to his determination, and consistently high level of skill in defence.
Ladies Threes
Ladies Threes played away against Brighton and Hove. New threes players Hannah and Eve made strong starts, forward and in midfield. There was also some impressive work from Caroline Webb, who stepped up to play defence at the last minute. At halftime the score was 0-0. The second half saw Brighton up their game and score two goals. Crowborough fought back hard with Lottie and Hannah going the extra mile. Rachel Valentine opened the scoring for Borough after some focused work from the frontline players. Borough also secured several attacking short corners but were unable to convert, and the final score was a 2-1 defeat. Player of the match was Hannah for playing with focus, skill and determination.
Girls Youth Academy
Girls Youth played away against Lewes. New information will be added shortly...
