Week Thirteen Match Summaries

Ladies 2s:

10 - 3 win against South Saxons. Josie scored four goals (POTM), Sophie scored three, Amanda two, and Grace one goal. An incredible attacking display. Superb goals from our energetic forwards. All the goals were well worked with some beautiful passing goals. Amanda's first had a beautiful swerve on it. Jose was absolutely lethal, during the game. Sophie's first was expertly swept in. Her third was an important touch on Vicky's shot to ensure it went in. Bethy and Lottie were also dangerous up front. The middle players worked hard and kept their width. Our defence showed excellent distribution to launch further attacks.

Ladies 3s:

4 - 2 Loss against Lewes Legends. It was a tough match against a tough opposition. Crowborough fought hard with some ferocious battles in midfield led by Hannah Walker, alongside with skilful play from Lucy Gibson and Eve Taylor, This led to Amber Valentine scoring a cracking goal. At halftime the score was 1 - 1. The second half witnessed a relentless onslaught from Lewes with Lara Swan, Jess Ikeson, Lisa Marr and Sarah Mercer Working Flat out. Cath Rawlings was as impressive as ever - saving numerous attacks on goal. Hannah Walker, after some tenacious action in the D, scored her first goal for Ladies 3s. Yet, sadly the end results was 4 - 2 to Lewes. Amber Valentine was given Player of The Match, for her determination throughout the game and her awesome goal.

Mens 1s:

They returned to a winning form with a 3 - 1 win at home against Lewes. Chris Cowen opened the scoring well with a penalty flick from a first half short corner. Mike Lindley made it two with a well driven shot from another short corner, which was deflected in by a Lewes defender. Before the break, Lewes scored one back capitalising on a defensive error and slotting home passed Mike Orchard. The Second half saw Crowborough hit both posts and force a number of saves from the Lewes keeper. A third goal came from a lofted shot from Finn Alexander deflected in by Dan Lang which secured Crowborough the win. Player of the Match went to Finn Alexander.

Mens 2s:

Mens 2s earned a hard fought, but well deserved 3 points away at Eastbourne following a 2 - 1 win. Crowborough started brilliantly, carving open the Eastbourne defence to take the lead through Freddie Lee inside the first few minutes. Eastbourne fought back, but the rest of the half was goalless thanks to some top class defending at both ends of the pitch. The second half was much of the same. Eastbourne had the perfect opportunity to equalise from a penalty corner, but goalkeeper Rufus Jones stood tall to deny them. Crowborough's defence was eventually breached, but they responded perfectly by winning a short corner that was duly put away by Phil Newington. Player of the match went to Rufus Jones.

Mens 3s:

3 pm friendly against Lewes at Beacon. Interclub relations were strengthened with Crowborough helping Lewes out with players to ensure a good match followed. New players Chris and Jude fitted in well with the squad and it will be good to see them progress throughout their time in threes. Thanks also to Annie and others from Ladies threes who helped out on the pitch too. Big thanks for Callum (from Lewes) and Amber for umpiring.
