OUR TEAMS
Womens One's
The Women's 1's are a friendly, talented and supportive team who play in Martlets Division One. They are a lovely bunch of women on and off the pitch and they all have the balance of competitiveness and kindness just right, setting a great example of sportsmanship to the rest of the club. Sam Williams captains a dedicated team full of experience and young talent who prove themselves each week no matter the score line. Despite finishing in 9th place out of 12 last season this did not reflect how they played, each week they turn up with grit, determination and perseverance which meant they challenged all the teams they played. They are always told by the opposition that they are a delight to play against and the respect they give to umpires is always appreciated and commended. We can't wait to see what they bring to the upcoming season!
Mens One's
The Men's 1's are a competitive and driven team who worked hard this past season to try to stay in Martlets Division One after being on such a high from being promoted in the 2022/23 season. Although they are now in Martlets Division Two this has not caused them to give up. Heading into the 2024/25 season with their new captain Mikey Orchard they are looking to gain promotion back into the league which they belong. They have a range of young talent and more experienced players which gives them a good mix and means they get stregnths from different players, which means they work really well as a team. They play very fast paced hockey and are very entertaining to watch so do come up and support them this coming season.
Womens Two's
The Women's 2's is a fun, close-knit and supportive team who compete in Martlets Division Three. Although they struggled at the start of the 2023/24 season due to having run in's with some tough opposition to open their season they soon took it in their stride and gained stability within their league. Thanks to the Women's 1's captain Sam Williams who coached from the sidelines most weeks and their then captain Vicky Dennett they ended up having a great second half of the season and finished in 5th position. The coming 2024/25 season sees a big change to the Women's 2's team as Vicky Dennett who has been their captain for many years and led them to two promotions and cup victory is stepping down and is excited to see Josie Mitchell step up as her successor. With the development of the Women's section over the last couple of seasons we hope to see the Women's 2's fly through their league and gain promotion this season. We wish their new captain all the best and hope to see them on a winning streak with young players with exciting potential developing through the Club.
Mens Two's
The Men's 2's are a side known for their team spirit, strong skills and ability to work together so well as a team despite the change in players they face each week in order to put out 3 strong Men's sides. They play in the Martlets Division Three league which they won in the 2023/24 season and hope to do just as well this season. Ian Easton has stepped up to the vacant captain position in the Mens 2's. He is a respected and skilled player who is fun on and off the pitch and will help develop and nurture our young talent through the Mens sides of the club. They have consistent and loyal players who are highly effective in the teams performance each week but are also just as effective in influencing good etiquette and attitude for all players on and of the pitch. We cannot wait to see what this season looks like for our awesome Men's 2's.
Womens Three's
The Women's 3's accommodates a variety of different types of hockey players who all take great pleasure in playing hockey twice a week. The new captain Sarah Mercer thinks it is a great place for people who have never picked up a stick before as it nurtures and helps develop players of any age by playing fun and relaxed hockey. It is also a great fit for ex-players who haven't played in a while or just want to play for a bit of fun and fitness on a Saturday. They play in the Martlets Division Four league and usually place mid table each season despite only being formed 3 years ago. Each year they top their past seasons records and exceed expectations with some amazing wins against some tough oppositions in the 2023/24 season. They also contain a small cohort of younger girls who challenge the rest of the ladies to keep up with them and push them every week. The Women's 3's is a welcoming group so would be the perfect place to start for newbies.
Mens Three's
The Men's 3's are much alike to our Women's 3's in which they encourage players of all skill sets to join Crowborough Hockey Club and play some fun, competitive hockey. They play in the Martlets Division Four league and sit around mid table each season. The Men's 3's are the core group that bring our young players through our Men's side of the club and help to develop them not only into great hockey players but also respectful people. Our Men's 3's is full of experienced players who reciprocate our Club's values to the younger generation of Crowborough Hockey players and new ones joining us. If you want to socialize more and do some fitness as well then this is the team for you. This season sees Stuart Smith take over the captaincy of Men's 3's, his aim is to bring through the youth of the club in a nurturing fashion while it still being fun. We can't wait to see what this season brings for Men's 3's.
Womens Four's
The Women's 4's is our newest addition to Crowborough Hockey Club this season and is due to the sheer number of young girl's and women we have wanting to play for us. We have had to create a new team in the Women's section for them to play in as the girls development side had over 30 girls wanting to play each week. We have some hand picked women who have been specifically selected to nurture and help these young players adapt to adult hockey including the captain who is Fiona Von-Hinten. She has coached these girls from a young age in girls development so knows them well and aims to push them hard in order to gain promotion in their first season together while also teaching them Crowborough Hockey Clubs values. This is such a massive step for Crowborough Hockey Club as we have never had a Women's 4's before and we are excited to see them play this season and thrive in adult hockey.
